Good to know
New since 31 August 2026: DTV applicants must show proof of permanent residence in the country where they apply and a criminal record certificate. For residents of Latvia that means applying via the Royal Thai Embassy in Stockholm with a Latvian residence document.
Each entry allows up to 180 days; you can extend once per entry by another 180 days at an immigration office. The visa itself is valid for five years.
The DTV does not allow working for a Thai employer or earning income from Thai clients.
Spending 180 days or more in Thailand in a calendar year can make you a Thai tax resident. If that applies to you, talk to a tax adviser.
